What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy is the application of a beam of light at a specific frequency directly onto the skin, wound or lesion. It can be used on almost any type of pet and because it’s non-invasive and pain free, it’s fast becoming a popular treatment for a wide range of conditions. It can be used to treat, arthritis, muscular skeletal injuries, gingivitis, ear infections, skin problems, back pain, lameness and as an aid for wound healing post surgery, or following injury.

The laser works by stimulating the body’s natural healing response on a cellular level. It encourages circulation of blood to the injured site or wound and cell regeneration, which means that wounds heal more quickly. It can be set to work on the surface of the skin or deep inside tissues depending on the laser settings. Most pets relax and enjoy the therapy as it stimulates the release of endorphins too.
The length of treatment and number of sessions will vary depending on your pet’s needs, but it may be necessary for several appointments during the first week or so with sessions then reducing over time. Our experienced nurses administer laser therapy and appointments can be made for it at our Kemp Town.
